Biography




A St. Martinville, Louisiana native, Louise Guidry has been drawing and painting since early childhood. Louise is married to Gary Guidry. They have two children, Neil and Cherrie. Neil is married to Rie Yokono Guidry and Cherrie is married to Vincent Daigle. They have 3 grandsons, Beau, Douglas, and Paul.

Painting has been a lifelong pursuit, but Louise was also a teacher at the elementary school level until retiring in 1994. During the summer semesters, she taught art classes to children and adults at the Continuing Education Department of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, The Senior Art Studio of Lafayette, and private lessons at her home studio.

In 1984, Guidry started work on a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She earned a B.F.A. with a concentration in painting in 1988.

Louise Guidry is an award-winning artist, exhibiting in many prestigious shows throughout the country and abroad. Her paintings are represented in many private and corporate collections throughout the U.S., France, and Japan.
